Air Force Veteran Angela Tallman delivers a powerful speech at our Memorial Day Ceremony.
SUCCESS
After 2 years of being full-time I am shifting to a part-time consulting position to continue supporting the mission. During my tenure I was able to work with amazing clients and focus on culture change, strategic planning, team/group building, conflict resolution, and a lot of executive and leadership coaching.
One of the most rewards aspects of my career here is being able to chair the Veterans in Energy Technology and Science (VETS) group and make changes to create a more dynamic and impactful union of comrades. This group of veterans and military supporters is one that makes me feel at home here and provides much of the comfort and camaraderie of when I served. The mission is one that drives me towards always wanting to do more and find opportunities for change and effectiveness whenever possible.
VETERAN STORY
I joined the military, the single best decision of my life, in order to support my young family and make a life for us. I had no money for an education and living in a small town, I did not have a lot of avenues to give us a good chance at excelling. I was the first in my family to join so there was a lot of trepidation and unknown. My son was only 10 months when I shipped out and he was my primary purpose.
“I learned immediately how to lead and interact with high-level, high-powered leaders.”
The deployments and TDYs were a struggle raising him but allowed me to get an education. I learned immediately how to lead and interact with high-level, high-powered leaders. The aircrew were my immediate clients and that has led to my profession now with executive coaching. The best part of working at LLNL is the continuation of service and mission focus while being surrounded by people who understand the importance of mission focus.
